Almdorf Seinerzeit – When the traditional mountain world met the modern world

„Was everything better before?“ In Almdorf „Seinerzeit“ [in those days], it is definitely better than in the hectic day-to-day life. Set in a sunny high plateau close to the Nockberge National Park, Almdorf Seinerzeit invite you to relax in harmony with nature and satisfies even very individual requirements. Almdorf is not a museum, but it brings the genuine and traditional together with the requirements of the modern world. A total of 28 mountain cabins, hunting lodges and chalets form a small exclusive village at Fellacheralm in Carinthia.

Almdorf Seinerzeit is 1,400 m from sea level on the slopes of the Carinthian Nockberge National Park and is six kilometres from the health and ski resort of Bad Kleinkirchheim and three kilometres from Falkertsee. The true luxury and the special part of Almdorf is the service for the guests. There are several mountain cabins and hunting lodges, a hunting chalet and three other chalets available, which are arranged on Fellacheralm in a small village. Each house is only bookable as complete and inclusive hotel service.

Alm huts – The guests are greeted with warmth and a crackling fire. The bench next to the fireplace, the snuggery or the kitchen-living room with the traditional oven make it difficult to pick the perfect place. The 15 Alm huts are excellently appointed for family life or cozy intimacy, with fresh flowers and a great variety of books from different times, about 75 square meters of living space on two floors, a south-facing balcony with a view of the valley, a terrace and a beautiful garden. The newly renovated Alpetta mountain cabins also have a pine bedroom and an infrared sauna.

Hunting lodges– For those who like it even more comfortable. Similar to the mountain cabins in their basic furnishing, the hunting lodges are spaciously laid out and lavishly set up. An open fire place is the perfect spot for cozy hours. A traditional wooden bathtub is integrated into the room and separated by a curtain. The lodge’s own small wine cellar holds precious and rare wines from the top wine-growers. The bathtub on the terrace is heated by the village host and Alpine herbs are added on request inviting you to take a bath under the stars. A glass of Chablis or Champagne with that…

Chalets – The chalets are the highest category among the Alm huts. Situated on the edge of the village, they have a spectacular view of the valley. The rooms of the single floor chalets are distributed among the living space of 92 square metres. The spacious bathroom features an authentic wooden bathtub and a wood-panelled „forest rain“ shower. The floor consists of indirectly illuminated pebbles beneath transparent glass. Each bathroom also has its own „Champagne cellar“. A whitewood sauna is installed next to it. If you wish to take a bath under the stars, your own outdoor tub is ready on the terrace. The two bedrooms have canopy beds; one of them also has an open fireplace. If you prefer it traditional, you may use the cosy hay bed under the roof.

Technical highlights can of course be found behind the scenes in all Almdorf huts. These include a flatscreen TV, Wi-Fi, underfloor heating, internet radio and iPod connection.

The cuisine is typical for the area and its simplicity has an almost forgotten trusted quality. The traditional guest house and business guests in areas including traditional midday or evening meals from local products. And when the kitchen chef heats up the genuine, traditional kitchen oven in front of the guests, it is not long until the smell of fresh Kaiserschmarrn (sugared pancakes) or a delicious duck wafts through the guest area. Privacy is the way of the Holzknechthütte. The individually selected dishes for a maximum of four persons are prepared in the cosy mini-restaurant over the open fire. A further culinary highlight in the cellar: Up to 6 visitors can enjoy a gourmet dinner at the open fire in the well organised wine cellar with top wines from Austria, Italy and France.

The Alm Spa provides for natural care and relaxation with the best natural products and completely adapted to the seasons. In the atmospheric background of a traditional barn, you will feel in seventh heaven after a hay bath, an automatic oil massage or a treatment with herb stamps.

Construction – All mountain cabins have been traditionally constructed by specialists who still know the old craft. Only natural material was used in constructing the Carinthian cabins. Natural sheep wool is used for insulation and roofs are made in „nail shingle“ style. Gutters and hooks are made from naturally shaped trees and the „fried“ (wound) fence rings are made with branches of pine trees. The wooden tubs are specifically produced for Almdorf and meet the highest hygienic demands through their naturalness.

In correspondence with the Seinerzeit philosophy, the other eight Alm cabins, the chalets and hunting lodges exclusively use natural wood and materials in the renovation. The typical wooden furniture for the region is lovingly prepared by local craftspeople and provide for the right atmosphere. Energetic measures such as integrated floors complete the new equipment of all Alm cabins, hunting lodges and chalets. Nature knows exactly what to produce and it is a blessing there are still people around who learn, know and work with those old techniques. The result is a place where each guest feels at home in their cabin and can perfectly relax in harmony with nature.
